A feast indeed. Time to belly up to some books.
I am grateful for all the friends in the Kingdom – some known and personal friends and some unknown literary friends who shared books, articles, journals and podcast with me this year.
Attached is my 2020 reads/listen list. If you have problems downloading it, drop me a note.
Please do share some of what you have read or listened to this past year!
Joyous Christmas Season

Thanks, Scott – This will form the basis of my reading list for 2021. (friend of David and Janet)

Thanks for this! Do you think the mentoring conversations book would work in cross-cultural discipleship relationships? We live and serve in Zambia, Africa. Also just started Open and Unafraid, heard too many recommendations to ignore!

This is a great question! Thanks for asking.
Based on the author’s introduction to the book, it is designed so that all engaged in the conversation (one-on-one) or in a group, would have a copy of the book and work their way through it. That is the ideal. But, you could use it as a topical guide as you mentor another non-English speaking believer through the topics. Key here is that I often find people do not know what to cover in a mentoring relationship Tony Horsfall offers a wealth of topics and Biblical guidance to ground and deepen others in their walk with Christ.

Hello Scott,
How are you and Beth doing? Did you end up having COVID? If so, how are you both doing since? Out of our family, I am the only one that had it. Ten days of fatigue, body aches, low grade fever, loss senses of taste and smell (still think I don’t have those back fully.) I never had the breathing issues that I know others have experienced.
Were you able to spend time with family over the holidays?
Here is the of books I read this past year I would recommend:
Adam by Henri Nouwen Brunulleschi’s Dome by Ross King (Saw this on your list. Is was such a great read during this year of pandemic!) Liturgy of Ordinary by Trish Harrison Warren (This was a reread. I’ve been walking with a young momma with three little girls and thought this book would be an encouragement for her. It was a good refresher for me as well.) The Gift of Being Yourself by Benner (Another reread that I did as a study with this young momma. It was good to see some growth in myself since reading this book with the Journey group.) Becoming Human by Jean Vanier The Path Between Us by Stabile
I am finishing the year with Tevye’s Daughters by Sholom Aleichem (The books that inspired the musical “Fiddler on the Roof”)
Sending a hug to both you and Beth and praying for you both.
